I don't claim to be any expert on scrapbooking but I do love to do it. For my birthday I got a Cricut from my mother-in-law (fantastic gift right??) I found a scrapbook store here in GA and found out they do crop days. I was excited to get to be around other scrappers and learn a little more about my new machine. I didn't get a ton of pages done but I learned a LOT. This was my favorite page from the day. I loved doing the soccer field as a layout. I used the cricut to cut out all the shapes and the letters (this is the very basic of what a cricut can do but even the basic stuff is so great!) I also used soccer Jolee' stickers and a couple of soccer brads on a couple of the pictures. I plan on adding some journaling in there too. Now I just need to stock up on my Cricut cartridges! </div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1TF7bVEovntn7zs_lTmzipUWtknZr_t02f9BsNzoRsZgTciQvPiQjW95Itr-8KslJB9gu4dCPekYxFvq0SNeFwa_DMoiqEe4rF8JyI6zBCGOkERadKCPS1f1h95FVPCpIYFVzTAzirI/s1600/DSC_0131.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 214px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5484657914201555890" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ1TF7bVEovntn7zs_lTmzipUWtknZr_t02f9BsNzoRsZgTciQvPiQjW95Itr-8KslJB9gu4dCPekYxFvq0SNeFwa_DMoiqEe4rF8JyI6zBCGOkERadKCPS1f1h95FVPCpIYFVzTAzirI/s320/DSC_0131.JPG" /></a> <a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54488/204/8D04BAB277C69FFBE37366D866B1ECAE.png" style="border: 0 !important; background: transparent;" /></a>The McBride Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00128423248962218938noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3184708070413151291.post-71004778736980121242010-06-05T12:00:00.000-07:002010-06-19T19:03:24.659-07:00Pottery Barn inspired quilt<span style="font-size:130%;">While looking through a Pottery Barn Kids magazine (I know, I don't even HAVE kids, but it doesn't mean I can't look at cute tiny things!) I fell in love with this quilt! I was taking a home decor sewing class at the time and knew I had to attempt a knock off for my final project!<br /><br />There is so much I love about this darling quilt, the bright colors, the scalloped edges, the tiny ric rac, the trees, and of course- the owls! When I saw how easy it was so make I had to try it myself!<br /><br />All you do is take a wire hanger, bend it into a circle, untie the wrapping at the top, and slip on ornaments! It couldn't get any simpler! I got all of my ornaments and the wire hanger from the Dollar Tree! The check out girl even gave me the hanger for free!<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-xSxFTAAt-2ukQzTRHx-uynTT41t49_L57unu_XY7P9K13wGgp0CyNynAKR7qKo3dOfaVZ0vP0Nv0rnNsJgq-JBEAJyfl5onw_IA-rW9z8tuDSCP1oV4mjsQN3zfSa8bVCM4i8r1ZvuG/s1600/IMGP4487.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407939227390174754" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii-xSxFTAAt-2ukQzTRHx-uynTT41t49_L57unu_XY7P9K13wGgp0CyNynAKR7qKo3dOfaVZ0vP0Nv0rnNsJgq-JBEAJyfl5onw_IA-rW9z8tuDSCP1oV4mjsQN3zfSa8bVCM4i8r1ZvuG/s400/IMGP4487.JPG" /></a>Tarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17786010100630985728noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3184708070413151291.post-60588753048048452962009-11-07T22:36:00.001-08:002010-06-05T10:36:40.822-07:00Thanksgiving Sign<div align="center">I have had a few 2x4 scraps laying around from my headboard project and finally decided what I want to do with them: Holiday Signs! </div><div align="center">Money is tight right now and so I vowed to complete this project with only what I already had on hand (and this was TOUGH because my friend text me this morning to tell me our local craft place, Porter's, was having a SALE today! Gah!)</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">I started by painting the edges of my wood with some green paint (because I was planning on distressing it and wanted some color to show through)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh83MZUCqG58KhH8zAIuKzSxSW0kM-WNRmpMfXlx6dew0J8RxdASzNxkqU9MWtPKdeC5TuFFYDmC19rps8qS3LwAQSGcB0GmHSzw-0z_vEBeI4q5DmnlP39n5oK2IDlb6BrQpWTprqXIJWD/s1600-h/IMGP4458.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401618972245058434" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh83MZUCqG58KhH8zAIuKzSxSW0kM-WNRmpMfXlx6dew0J8RxdASzNxkqU9MWtPKdeC5TuFFYDmC19rps8qS3LwAQSGcB0GmHSzw-0z_vEBeI4q5DmnlP39n5oK2IDlb6BrQpWTprqXIJWD/s400/IMGP4458.JPG" /></a> Next I spray painted the entire thing brown, because it is Fall, after all. </div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*SIDE NOTE #1* I keep a stack of cardboard outside our apartment for painting projects and someone took them(!) so I had to use newspaper to spray paint on. Well Rexburg is especially windy this time of year and the newspaper flew up on my wet paint and stuck to the board. It was not pretty! I switched from newspaper to wax paper after that.</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*SIDE NOTE #2* Paint takes so long to dry in the cold, I had no idea! Does anyone have any solutions to this? I don't want to give up painting until Spring, but I don't want to risk painting in the apartment... </div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">Anywho, while my brown paint was drying I cut out letters out of scrapbook paper. I just printed them first and then used it as a stencil while I cut.</div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">I mod podged the letters on the 2x4, distressed the edges of the board, and added a fun orange ribbon (leftover from my wedding!). </div><div align="center"></div><div align="center">What do you think?<br /><br /><br /></div><div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6NPJ2DZnHLvhqdHumhzvp60coyhDPpa5UcpMDncy0wk-7ktgpFtRsSvB2WDPHE30yZl9PeDDuf-ciJ_ALyfu8yBM1L6D0t4E68vYwxwAam_UdBbGAVZ5n1unlHwrbcZJ7u5EUm2yWsQjq/s1600-h/IMGP4460.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 190px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401618734957819890" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6NPJ2DZnHLvhqdHumhzvp60coyhDPpa5UcpMDncy0wk-7ktgpFtRsSvB2WDPHE30yZl9PeDDuf-ciJ_ALyfu8yBM1L6D0t4E68vYwxwAam_UdBbGAVZ5n1unlHwrbcZJ7u5EUm2yWsQjq/s400/IMGP4460.JPG" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGOaYZGIE2pgT4oJVq1qQu1k7wMHxFaOWREXlIJ6Sx4BNOua4uTpeOyMg4j6aCXRUK7_IMABRZszuPdfWJyMUb4DuSgCnY3HNKpqu29TRk-4pqEs66TEs7THZP1KcehAeiwfrLs8xM2899/s1600-h/IMGP4467.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 272px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401618728403192738" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGOaYZGIE2pgT4oJVq1qQu1k7wMHxFaOWREXlIJ6Sx4BNOua4uTpeOyMg4j6aCXRUK7_IMABRZszuPdfWJyMUb4DuSgCnY3HNKpqu29TRk-4pqEs66TEs7THZP1KcehAeiwfrLs8xM2899/s400/IMGP4467.JPG" /></a> </div><br /></div>Tarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17786010100630985728noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3184708070413151291.post-38823721241485853202009-11-07T22:31:00.001-08:002009-11-07T22:36:17.490-08:00Fall Tree<div align="center">A few weeks ago I was at Porter's (our local craft store) and they had all of their Fall decorations up. They had the cutest display of a small pine tree with twinkle lights and these great little wicker pumpkins. I remembered that we had bought a mini Christmas tree last year and decided to try my hand at making my own Fall Tree! <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicw2g6CpqarDMG2XrsffG9Q4FRvyR1V2amZvYWGGt2vQkBv0BChvIhCf83oltupy8hS6o41UFQ_SsI3uSjNSh1WTkNJqu-TEB4_VN0hyHtem4VWRq_N4BpFcZ5S_MEGJi3YgpeeobcbqZS/s1600-h/IMGP4457.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5401616950891049410" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicw2g6CpqarDMG2XrsffG9Q4FRvyR1V2amZvYWGGt2vQkBv0BChvIhCf83oltupy8hS6o41UFQ_SsI3uSjNSh1WTkNJqu-TEB4_VN0hyHtem4VWRq_N4BpFcZ5S_MEGJi3YgpeeobcbqZS/s400/IMGP4457.JPG" /></a> </div>Tarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17786010100630985728noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3184708070413151291.post-45991866531870425912009-11-05T12:50:00.001-08:002010-06-05T10:37:33.473-07:00Upholstered Headboard<div align="center">My friend Stephanie and I made these upholstered headboard together. It was a really simple process and I LOVE how it turned out! We more or less used <a href="http://polkadotchair.blogspot.com/2009/07/make-upholstered-headboard.html">this tutorial </a>except instead of foam (which would have cost $100+ !!) we used a couple layers of the egg carton style mattress topper (the smooth side out). Even though we used the same process our headboards look so different!
